Composite railway sleepers, also known as synthetic railway sleepers, serve as essential structural materials within railway tracks. Composite railway sleepers are manufactured by reinforcing polyurethane foam resin with continuous glass fibers and additives through a foam extrusion process. They have features of high strength, lightweight properties akin to wood, and outstanding resistance to corrosion. Moreover, they are durable, offer excellent processing performance, and demonstrate superior waterproofing capabilities due to their plastic raw material composition.
GNEE rail is a professional and reliable manufacturer specializing in composite railway sleepers. And we factory have12 production lines and an experienced technical team dedicated to ensuring high-quality products. Moreover, we offer customization services to tailor our products according to the specific needs of our customers. Feel free to contact us.
Composite railway sleepers offer easy installation and handling. They are lightweight, quick to lay, and ideal for lightweight bridge construction. Turnout machines and sleepers can be transported separately to the site for assembly, allowing for convenient on-site adjustment to enhance construction precision. Moreover, the absence of steel reinforcement in the sleepers eliminates concerns about short-circuit accidents during construction.
Composite railway sleepers are suitable for high-speed rail application. They can be made in long sizes for large turnouts and have good flexibility, making them suitable even without track isolation pads. Cracking has not been reported, even at junctions on high-speed lines like the Shinkansen.
Various sizes of composite railway sleepers can be quickly produced to suit on-site conditions. And various functionalities can be added.
Long lifespan and low construction costs contribute to reducing the product's lifecycle costs, ultimately lowering overall costs.
Composite railway sleepers are easy to maintain and repair, and they can be reused after nail hole repair. Their resin material is corrosion-resistant, ensuring stable performance over the long term.
In 1980, the Railway Technical Research Institute of Japan began developing composite sleepers. They were gradually applied to various locations such as the Uetsu Main Line, Sanmenkawa Bridge, Sanyo Main Line, and Sekimon Tunnel in Japan. By 1991, the Railway Technical Research Institute of Japan confirmed through a 10-year evaluation that "physical performance has hardly decreased."
In 1996, through a 15-year evaluation, it was confirmed that "physical performance is equivalent to maintaining strength for 50 years." Subsequently, composite sleepers were further applied to projects such as the Tokaido Shinkansen, Kyushu Shinkansen, and extensions of the Tohoku Shinkansen in Japan.
The performance of composite sleepers in Japan has been remarkable (providing over 1.3 million units in 25 years), leading to their adoption in subway systems in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Nanjing, Hong Kong, Seoul in South Korea, São Paulo in Brazil, Vienna in Austria, and railways in Germany, France, Australia, Russia, and other countries. Their usage is becoming increasingly widespread globally.
We are an approved railway product manufacturer by the Chinese Ministry of Railways, specializing in producing various types of rail sleepers, including wooden sleepers, concrete sleepers, and rail tracks. The composite railway sleepers offered by us are widely used in all types of rail transport systems, especially in switches, turnouts, bridges/viaducts, and other high-speed and metro railway construction projects. And we offer customization according to customer requirements and have a dedicated technical team. Feel free to contact us for inquiries.
